About

Adriana Guerguinova was born in Sofia, Bulgaria in May of 1986.

After visiting a psychic soon after her birth her mother agreed that she was destined for big things. This was also confirmed by her high school teacher Joanne Thompson who said “one day your name will be in lights”. Now she may have been referring to Broadway, the cinema or something similar of that nature.

Living in a foreign country Adriana struggled in the beginning to learn to speak the language. After only a year she began to speak fluently, her confidence sky rocketed allowing her read and write.

As a young girl Adriana enjoyed making her friends laugh and imitating her grandmother. This led to her passion of performing, mainly acting.  She was enrolled in a Musical Theatre company called Young Australian Broadway Chorus better known as YABC. From there she developed core skills in Singing, Dancing and Acting. She particulary enjoyed Improvisation, Creative drama and facial & body expression.

Adriana then took her acting skills to the next level in 2002 when she entered a competition with her friend “The Melbourne International Comedy Festival” – Class Clowns. Making it to the National Grand Final their act “Footy Balls” placed the duo in second place. This was an outstanding achievement for Adriana which only gave her more inspiration to follow her dreams and ultimately see her name ‘in lights’.

Tim Woods, Adriana’s year 11 media teacher gave her advice to ensure she would have a career in the media. It was then that she was first exposed to the idea of radio broadcasting. Following his words of wisdom Adriana chose a university degree that allowed movement and the chance for her to ‘career ponder’.

Her love for radio emerged when a friend of her mentioned a position to be involved with Community Radio Station Joy 94.9 fm. Adriana completed her Certificate III in Radio Broadcasting with the station which led to producing and presenting programs such as Generation Next and Probation.

In 2007 she completed her Bachelor of Communication (Professional Communication) at RMIT University. Adriana specialised in Radio and broadcast journalism.

Adriana is now tackling her fourth year at University as an Honours student. She hopes to explore how community radio will adapt to the digital age.
